River Island has announced their latest collaboration which will be hitting stores in the coming weeks, with Tourne de Transmission. The label, founded in 2012, will join the noteworthy list of previous collaborations for the River Island Design Forum such as Christopher Shannon, Lou Dalton and YMC. According to the high street store, the collection will very much be influenced by the designer’s eastern influences when it comes to design, drawing from Japanese clothing cultures, both old and new.
The collection will include 14 items of ready-to-wear, and alongside the clothing, will feature footwear and accessories. This collaboration will showcase the versatility of the designer in merging modern fashion items with more traditional clothing inspirations. We can expect a visual that is modern, with Tokyo street style peering throughout the collection achieved through traditional Japanese design techniques and fabrics.
The collection will see such items as low-rise and wide leg trousers cut from fabrics of linen, canvas, cotton and denim. This bold design will be combined with a more muted colour palette, with earthy tones of nude and grey, combined with deep black and indigo hues in the denim and outwear. One key piece to be found in the collection is the modern take on the kimono, with military pockets and matte snap fastenings.
The collection of tradition fused with utility will be a welcome addition to the high street once it is made available in selected stores and online from January 2017. In the meantime, check out what you can expect from the illustrations below.
