Man of the Month | Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender is on a fast track to global success not seen by other Irish actors. The Kerry native is eclipsing the likes of Colin Farrell, Gabriel Byrne and Brendan Gleeson as he racks up a plethora of nominations across the world this award’s season.

The actor first got major attention for his role in Shame back 2011, but recently, it was his portrayal of Steve Jobs that has garnered even more recognition including nominations at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTA’s for Best Actor.

At the tender age of two, his parents moved to county Kerry where he enjoyed a fabulous catholic upbringing just like to rest of us, before moving onto smaller television and film roles after he took the plunge in London town.

In was in 2008 when he landed the part of Bobby Sands in Hunger that critics really started to take notice of this rising star. Roles in 12 Years a Slave, Jane Eyre, 300, and X-Men: First Class established the brunette hunk as a real force to be reckoned with and as roles get bigger and bigger, the award nominations and global success keeps on coming and coming.

His relationship status is something that has discussed at length of late as people become more interested in this shy figure and he has certainly had his fair share of supermodel girlfriends. The 37 year old has been dating his The Light Between Oceans co-star, actress Alicia Vikander since late 2014 (in case you didn’t already know).

While many movie stars make the headlines for the wrong reasons, Fassbender has managed to keep his personal life very much under radar and far away from the prying eyes of the media.

One thing is for sure when it comes to Michael Fassbender, his success is only going to grow and his future in the movie industry in very bright and it won’t be long before Oscar glory is bestowed on him.
